MBBS Admission Process in Russia for Indian Students
The admission process for MBBS in Russia is quite straightforward. There is no need for Indian students to take an entrance exam to enroll in Russian medical universities. To get admission in Russian medical university, Indian applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Russian medical university and eligibility criteria set by the Medical Council of India for study MBBS abroad. The scores obtained in the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination also play a significant role in the admission process.
Eligibility for admission in Russia (MBBS/BDS):
To be eligible for MBBS admission in Russia, Indian applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must be at least 17 years of age at the time of admission.
- Student must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as core subject.
- The student must secure at least 50% marks in the 12th class (40% for reserved categories).
- Indian students need to qualify the NEET Exam for MBBS admission in Russia.
Application Dates and Deadlines 2024:
MBBS admissions in Russia begin on May 1st of each year and end on August 30th. It is mandatory to submit applications by the August 30th deadline. Admissions are given strictly on a first come first served basis and depend on availability. We advise students to make an early application because there is a large number of applicants and seats are limited.
Note: Apply early, as the university may close admissions if seats are filled.
Academic Session in Russian Medical Universities
The academic year in Russia has two semesters. The first semester in Russian medical universities begins in September and ends in January. The second semester begins in February and ends in June. At the end of each semester, students are passing exams. After this, they have holidays: 2 weeks in winter (from 25th of January to 9th of February), 2 months in summer (from 1st of July to 30th of August).

- Duly filled-in Admission form
- Scanned copy of Class 12th Pass Certificate/Mark sheet
- Scanned copy of Class 10th Pass Certificate
- NEET Result/Admit Card.
- 4 Passport size colored photographs in white background (4.5 cm /3.5 cm)
- Scanned copy of Passport (first and last page)
- Adhar Card or PAN Card (if passport is not ready at the time of application.)

Applying for MBBS in Russia: Admission Process for Indian Students
Step 1: We cordially invite you to either visit our office or give us a call for a free counseling on pursuing medical studies in Russia. It is importent for both students and parents to understand all aspects related to the universities, study expenses, and living costs in Russia.
Step 2: Once the student has made an informed decision to proceed with studying in Russia, they should submit a completed admission form, along with scanned copies of their 10th and 12th-grade mark sheets, NEET results, and either a passport or Aadhar card. Students who do not have a passport should apply for one, and those who have appeared for the NEET exam in 2023 can submit their results once they are declared.
At this initial stage, the student must pay an application fee. Payment options include making an online transfer to the company’s bank account or issuing a demand draft/cheque in favor of Continental Education Pvt Ltd, payable at New Delhi.
Step 3: Once you have paid the application fee and submitted your application, it will be forwarded to the relevant university. The university’s admission officer will review your documents, and within seven days, the university will issue an admission or acceptance letter confirming the reservation of your seat.
Step 4: In this step, we will initiate the process of obtaining an Invitation Letter. At this stage, the student must provide their original passport. The Visa Invitation Letter is an official document that is required to obtain a visa from the embassy and is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The process of obtaining the Invitation Letter can be time-consuming, taking around one month to complete. Once the Invitation Letter is ready, the student will be required to pay the consultancy service charges.
Step 5: After receiving the Invitation Letter, the next step is to apply for a student visa at the Russian embassy. The visa application process usually takes 10-15 days. Once the visa is ready, the student will be informed about the date of travel to Russia. At this stage, the student will have to purchase an air ticket, or our team can assist them with the purchase of air ticket.
Step 6: Once the visa has been stamped, all original documents, including the passport, visa, and certificates, are returned to the student. This enables them to make necessary arrangements for foreign exchange (in US dollars) for paying university tuition fees and covering living expenses. Furthermore, a checklist of essential instructions and items required during travel will also be provided to the students. Now, students can begin preparing for their trip to Russia.
Step 7: The students must also ensure that they collect all the necessary documents, as these documents will be required to be presented at the university office upon their arrival. We recommend that students take printouts of all their admission-related documents, including the confirmation letter, invitation letter, visa, passport’s first and last page, and air ticket, and store them safely. Additionally, students are advised to keep a digital copy of these documents in their email for easy access and backup.
Step 8: Upon the students’ arrival in Russia, our team receives them at the airport and escorts them to the university hostel, guaranteeing their safety and security. The next day, our representative will provide guidance and support to help the students pay the college fees and other administrative fees, essential for enrollment into the MBBS program in Russia. The students can be confident in receiving complete assistance throughout the admission process, with our team accompanying and supporting them at every stage on foreign soil.

NOTE: Here’s good news for Indian students aspiring to study medicine in foreign universities. Medical Council of India (MCI) has released a Gazette notification extending the NEET validity to three years.
According to the MCI Gazette notification, the result of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) shall be valid for a period of three years from the date of declaration of results. This will help the students who are going abroad as the admission process in different countries is a time-taking exercise.
The notification also said the regulation “shall come into force from the date of publication in the Official Gazette”, which is March 14, 2019.
NOTE: Many agents promote “Discounted Fees” with the Russian medical universities. In this scheme, they ask the students to pay 6 years’ fees together with a discount. CEC always warns the student that there is no such system by the Russian University having “disounteded fees”. The amount would be kept by the agent and ultimately you would end us in trouble when they do not pay the fees to the university on your behalf.
